Institutional Advancement - Director of Annual Giving

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, work as part of a high-performance team to develop and manage a comprehensive, strategic, integrated annual fund program that builds the base of donors and increase the level of support for D’Youville University. The goal is to grow the annual unrestricted, restricted and leadership level support. The position is responsible for developing and implementing an effective annual fund program focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.

Responsibilities include development and implementation of a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving direct mail, phone, personal visitation, e-solicitations and volunteer engagement. The Director must have a keen appreciation for the foundation of annual giving as the enabling component of successful major and planned giving programs.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, develops and implements strategic and tactical plans for soliciting gifts from alumni, trustees, parents, friends, faculty/staff, and others to achieve annual giving goals
  • Oversee all annual giving programs including direct mail, phone, faculty/staff campaign, senior gift and other targeted solicitation programs. Collaborate with Director of Advancement Services with initiatives pertaining to the annual leadership society.
  • Continually monitor and analyze annual fund program performance to assess progress toward goal and make adjustments when and if needed to ensure annual goals are achieved.
  • Create, develop and execute a highly effective and sustainable volunteer support network within the annual fund program.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of 100 leadership annual giving prospects with annual goals for personal visits and giving outcomes
  • Work with the Development Team to increase the number of leadership annual fund donors, retaining and upgrading current donors to Saints Society
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and one to three years of annual fund, alumni engagement or relatable experience
  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and appropriately
  • Interest in soliciting and securing gifts and working with volunteers
  • Exceptional organization skills and be able to attend to and prioritize projects
  • Ability to successfully manage interpersonal working relationships. As appropriate, collaborate with staff in other units and divisions to achieve the goals of the University

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
